Launch of new Monday ChitChat Club

This coming Monday, 5th September sees the launch of a new initiative funded by Fratton Big Local. Every Monday morning from 10-12noon, you can drop in for a chat and a cuppa at the ChitChat Club held at the Community Cafe based at Buckland United Reformed Church.

Mary from the Good Mental Health Cooperative will be there to welcome you, along with our friendly volunteers and other local residents. So if you feel in need of some company, or would like to find out more information about activities or services in the local area, come along and join us on a Monday morning.

We all feel lonely from time to time but certain experiences may lead to a more prolonged and severe sense of loneliness which can have a negative effect on our mental health – for example being unemployed or widowed, having a long term health condition or disability, being a carer. If you know someone in this situation remember that taking those first steps towards connecting with others through a group or regular activity can feel very difficult, and often a lot of encouragement and support is needed.

That’s what the ChitChat Club is all about – all welcome!!

You can read more about research from the Mental Health Foundation on loneliness and the impact on mental health here.
